The 1998 Opus One, from Napa Valley, marks the estate’s 20th anniversary vintage (1978–1998). Crafted primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon (about 86%) with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, it carries an alcohol content of around 13.5%. A cooler growing season with lower yields produced a wine of refined balance and restrained elegance. Aromas of black cherry, cassis, violets, and cigar box are layered with subtle spice and earthy undertones. Medium-bodied with silky tannins, fresh acidity, and notes of cocoa and graphite on the finish, the 1998 Opus One is now fully mature, offering both harmonious complexity and historical significance.
