Pagoda Brand Shaoxing Rice Wine 20 Years is a semi-dry huangjiu (Chinese yellow wine) aged two decades, produced at the Pagoda Brand Winery on the shore of Jianhu Lake in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province. Only rice wine brewed from glutinous rice, wheat koji, and water sourced exclusively from Jianhu Lake may legally bear the protected designation "Shaoxing Rice Wine" — a standard Pagoda strictly upholds. The entirely handcrafted brewing process involves soaking premium glutinous rice in Jianhu water for 18 days for lactic acid fermentation, then steaming, fermenting in large vats with wheat koji, and aging in clay jars outdoors for three months before pressing and pasteurization. Cellared for a full 20 years, the wine develops a deep amber clarity, a rich and mellow bouquet, and a complex palate that harmoniously weaves together sweet, sour, spicy, bitter, umami, and astringent notes into an elegant, smooth finish — making it both a premium sipping wine and a nourishing tonic.
